No matter how young or mature we are, we all want to have beautiful skin. Regular trips to the salon for facial treatments might burn a hole in our pockets. So, why not try these easy home remedy – simple and home facial treatments to help combat our skin problems?
Being in my fifties, I sometimes reminisce about how easy things were when I was young. I had less things to worry about, had more energy and time to socialise and have a good time…late nights and all. And after all that, my tired skin seemed to jump right back to life in just a couple of days.
The fact is, no matter what our age is, we all have different lifestyle and habits, not to mention commitments and responsibilities – and these will take a toll on how we look and the way we feel.
We also have our own skin problems to deal with; acne and scars, blackheads, large pores, wrinkles and more. That’s why it’s important to set a little time to take care of ourselves – especially our skin because it’s the first tell-tale of how tired we are (and our age!). This weekend, chill and relax at home as you pamper your skin with these home remedy skin care treatments.
Problem areas – Tired and dull-looking skin
Get refreshed and glowing skin with this remedy. Turmeric contains curcumin which has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It also promotes production of collagen and keeps the skin supple and glowing.
Simple & cheap home remedy: turmeric
1 tsp turmeric powder, 4 tbsp chickpea flour, milk or water
Mix turmeric powder with the flour and add enough milk or water to form a paste. Apply the paste over (cleansed) face and neck, and leave it on for 20 minutes. Then wash and rinse with room temperature water.
Problem areas – Blemish and acne scars
Simple & cheap home remedy: oats
Honey, dry oats and aloe vera gel
Blend honey, oats and aloe vera gel to make a fine paste. Apply this paste over (cleansed) face and leave it on for 30 minutes. Then wash and rinse with lukewarm water.
Problem areas: Acne and pimples
Simple and cheap home remedy: baking soda
Three remedy options that you can try:
- Baking soda and water
- Tomato pulp with cucumber juice
1. Mix some baking soda with water and make a thick paste. Apply this paste over (cleansed) face and leave it on for 20 minutes. Then wash and rinse with lukewarm water.
2. Oatmeal contains cleansing properties and it also helps reduce acne scars. Simply blend some oatmeal with water to make a thick paste. Apply it over (cleansed) face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then wash and rinse with lukewarm water.
3. Tomato pulp is an excellent toner. It helps to unclog the pore and prevents the formation of acne and pimples. To make this treatment, add some cucumber juice and mix it with some tomato pulp. Apply it over (cleansed) face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then wash and rinse with room temperature water.
When you have any acne or pimple breakouts, delay using any scrub products – this may aggravate the condition and spread bacteria to other part of your face. Once the breakout has subsided, then continue with your weekly facial scrub routine.
Problem Areas: Blackheads
Simple & cheap home remedy: green tea
1 tsp green tea powder and water
Combine 1 tsp green tea powder with some water to create a paste. Apply on (cleansed) affected area and leave it on for a couple of minutes and then gently massage it for another couple of minutes. Finally, wash and rinse with lukewarm water.
